Ingredients
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- ½ tsp cayenne pepper
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp paprika
- ¼ tsp oregano
- ¼ tsp thyme
- ¼ tsp onion powder
- fresh ground pepper
- canola oil
- 1 ½ lbs peeled and deveined shrimp
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 ½ cups flour
- 1 cup cornmeal
Instructions

mix salt, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, paprika, oregano, thyme, onion powder and pepper.

toss seasoning mixture with shrimp and set aside

heat canola oil in a pot to 2 inches’ deep

put buttermilk in one bowl

mix flour and cornmeal in another bowl

dip shrimp in buttermilk and then flour

fry shrimp in batches, about 4 minutes until crispy

season hot shrimp with salt
Recipe Notes
make buttermilk by measuring 2 tablespoon less milk than needed and add 2 tablespoons lemon juice or white vinegar and let sit 2-3 minutes until curdled
