I follow Nick Solares, host of Eater's The Meat Show and he posted a cheeseburger from The Workingman's Friend in Indianapolis. I researched it and made a copy of it and it was one of the best burgers I ever made
Ingredients
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- salt & pepper
- american cheese
- hamburger rolls
- pickles slices
Instructions

heat a cast iron skillet over high heat
-
form meat into 4 loosely packed balls of meat
-
salt & pepper the burgers
-
place the meat in the hot skillet and smash flat with a spatula

cook 2-3 minutes until blood bleeds through the top of the burgers

flip the burgers and top with cheese
-
cook 1-2 minutes more until cooked through and the cheese is melted
-
place on a bun and serve with pickle slices
